Lordship of Annables
ANNABLES HERITABLE LORDSHIP STYLE-TITLE The Annables Heritable Lordship offers an elegant connection to a historic Hertfordshire manor with a distinctive and memorable name. Associated with the documented Manor of Annables, otherwise Kinsbourne Hall or Annables, this private heritage Style-Title draws upon a story of medieval local identity, family descent, parish history and later lord-of-the-manor references.
It is a graceful heritage Style-Title with a refined Hertfordshire character, combining an attractive name with a clear historic manorial association.
The Annables Heritable Lordship Style-Title is associated with the historic Manor of Annables, also known as Kinsbourne Hall or Annables, within the historic Harpenden and Wheathampstead context of Hertfordshire.
The preliminary research dossier identifies Annables as a historically recognisable manorial subject. The Victoria County History account for Wheathampstead with Harpenden identifies the manor as Kinsbourne Hall or Annables and records it in the hands of Adam de Kynesburne in 1307.
The later history is particularly interesting because it connects the manor with the Smyth family and with later local references to the Lord of the Manor of Annables. The parish-history material records the Reverend William Smyth as Lord of the Manor of Annables in the nineteenth century, while later local-history evidence preserves a twentieth-century lordship tradition connected with Annables, Kinsbourne Green and local common-land duties.
